I have a tank of barbs, and one of them tonight looks really bloated, and kind of looks furry?? his tummy looks pale..
He is a bit anti social any way, so not sure if he was ok last night, but didnt notice any thing. he still ate ok.
thanks
ok, I think its dropsy, but all the sites say to quarantine the fish, but I only have one tank and its tropical.. any ideas on how to keep it warm whilst its out of the tank....
Thanks
A bucket or pail will work. You don't need anything fancy, just something without holes and don't forget to put a lid on the container; if become lively it might jump out the container. You could use a piece of mesh or cheese cloth.
The bottom part of one of those plastic containers like for lunchbox etc is ideal for isolating a fish. It has plenty of surface area for oxygen exchange in the water and it makes it easy to medicate just the one fish.
If the fish is better (we hope), don't throw the water from the isolation back in the main tank, dump it and add fresh water to the tank.
