Good morning everyone.
We have a strange problem here. Every morning when we get up, there's a pool of cat-pee on the kitchen worktop-yuk! We have 4 cats of our own but in my opinion, there is another cat coming in and doing this. There are several un-neutered toms who live around here and we do have a cat flap, so we think that one of them is the perpetrator!
My question is, does anyone know of a good product that we can use that will maybe stop the cat using our kitchen as a toilet?

If you are convinced it's a visiting cat maybe the best thing to do is to stop it coming in in the first place - if your cats use a cat flap you can get magnetic collars which allow access to your cats but not others. .

How do you know it isn't one of your own cats?

To try and stop any cat peeing in the same spot you can mix a solution of BIOLOGICAL washing powder/liquid with water and clean the area thoroughly with it.

I used to find pawmarks all over my work surfaces in the kitchen & knew it wasn't my cat, so I've fixed my cat flap so my puss can get out, but no other b*gger can get in. In that way I control who comes in and out! Ii sometimes hear one of the cats from next door trying to get in but - NO WAY! And guess what? The paw marks stopped!

Also when you clean the worktops finish with a few drops of lemon essential oil on your cloth
you need to 'overwrite' the cat message with one a cat will interpret as unpleasant and stronger. Are the unneutered toms strays, if so it might be worth finding out if any of the animal charities are doing catch/neuter/release schemes in your area and asking for their help.

Eucalyptus oil also works brilliantly for deterring cats rowan, even better if you can place a few pots of the actual plant around the kitchen :)

Thank you all for your answers! I will definitely try the citrus and eucalyptus oils and give the worktop a good wash down with bio washing liquid. The toms are owned by neighbours-goodness knows why anyone would want an un-neutered male as a housecat-they get injured in fights, run over on the roads and have shorter lives in general. We are pretty sure it's not any of our chaps doing the pee-wrongly or not, some of them are fed on the worktop and a cat will not desecrate it's own feeding place. Anyway, I will give all your suggestions a try-thanks again everyone! Maz x

Interesting that you say "some" are fed on the worktop. Could the one(s) which isn't fed there be doing it out of jealousy ?

It would be a good idea to lock the cat flap,then you'd know for certain that it's not one of yours.
