Dog has been barred from the groomers......

Took my westie to the dog groomers today, half an hour later had to go and pick him up as she couldn't cope with him.
He apparently (I didn't know about this) craps all over the place every time he's there, and gets uncontrollably upset and wound up so he's always a struggle to clip. Today was particularly bad as he suddenly developed diarrhoea and sprayed it all over the place........she now won't have him back.
As he's a westie he obviously needs regular grooming but I feel I must explain what he's like to any other groomer who takes him on.......any suggestions please?

Awwwww bless him. He obviously misses mum/dad. Might be worth having a chat with the vet?
Stay with him Craft. I used to stay with my Yorkie because of problems like this and he was fine. Or look for a mobile dog groomer in your area.
Poor little chap - I get a bit like that when I go to the dentist (although obviously I don't cr@p all over the surgery). Does he get upset cos he's being trimmed or cos you've left him there?
The other thing is - how do you know how she acts with your dog when you are not there. Poor dog is obviously stressed out with her and it's quite a stressful situation anyway (especially in this hot weather).
The only suggestion I would make craft is that you stay there with him whilst he is groomed. It's probably the reason why he is getting uncontrollable when you are not there with him.......
You will have to rename him 'Crapalot' ! :-)

Lottie when he goes off on one, as he does, he ignores me as well.....he can be quite uncontrollable at times. I am thinking of a mobile groomer but think it only fair to warn them of his behaviour. He's such a lovely, happy, affectionate little dog the rest of the time.
Typical Westie craft!! They can be little devils. It amazes me that so many old people have them because they are 'lovely little dogs' and then find out what they are really like. I have only ever known naughty Westies. But I love them just the same.

Don't know what the answer is except perhaps sedation!!
We buy these herbal tablets or spray from the vet for our cat. So when he has to visit the V.E.T he is calm and tranquil. Might be worth looking into for your little dog? Sounds like he gets a bit stressed by it all.

Now there's a thought Lottie..........I must agree that I see all the other pensioners out with their westies toddling along behind them on a lead, and say to mine "Why can't you be like that?". I put mine on a lead and he becomes satan personified.
Does he take after his owner craft ....:-)
i like the thought of a dog with an ASBO from the groomers, excellent!!!

Is a mobile groomer a wise move? Especially if he's prone to crapping all over the place when stressed.
lol BOO ! The only dog in Yorkshire with an ASBO and craft under house arrest......:-))
I think dogs take to some groomers & not others. My last dog refused point blank to go through the door the second time I took him to one particulare place. However he happily trotted off every time with another lovely place that I found.
The dog I have now has a mobile groomer ...best thing I could have done, he's very good....and they're much cheaper.
My ex-mum in law's dog got banned from a pub. It was back in the days when health and safety laws were lax (animal rights too, come to think of it).

Every Sunday they took Shane (huge alsatian) to the pub for Sunday lunch. They'd give him an ashtray full of beer under the table, which he loved. (One of those big round ashtrays .... don't expect you see any of those in pubs nowadays ....)

Anyhoo, he was always very well behaved, but one Sunday, having had his ashtray full of beer, he stood up and trotted off, with the table and all the Sunday lunches on his back.

The landlord gave him an instant ban.
Is it possible to groom him yourself - or is it too difficult? I have never had a dog with the type of coat that needs grooming. Attempting to groom my long-haired girl cat has been painful and has meant trips to the doctor to get my wounds seen to.

Isn't Barmaid's cat called ASBO - wonder what he did to get that name?
Reminded me of Mr LL old alsation Craft. Tied him to the bumper of a mini whilst on the beach. Next thing we knew was a rather huge alsation running down the beach with a bumper attached!!
Sorry, that was for Mrs Chappie!

wolf I can't groom him myself......westies have double coats and need stripping as well as clipping.
I've found another groomer and she's going to pick him up next Thursday. She says it's okay if he craps in the van 'cos she'll just hose it down......she doesn't seem at all fazed by what I've told her.....
Mrs Chappie - your story has cheered me up.

Craft - I am glad that you got somebody to do is coat. I hope he likes the new groomer.
lol, yes Wolf, my cat is called ASBO. He was the naughtiest kitten ever who grew into the naughtiest cat ever. As to what he did, it would be easier to explain what he DIDN'T do!

I am lol at Craft though! Poor pooch.
