A heart murmer in a dog is exactley the same as in a Human. All it means is that the heart skips a beat once in a while. Dont give up exercising, but dont over exercise. Your Vet is probably waiting to see if the heart becomes worse, in which case they will probably prescribe tablets to be taken each day by the dog. I am speaking from some experience, my beagle had the same problem, and so do I. My heart murmer was diagnosed when in my teens and I am now in my sixties, so its not that dangerous Hope this has been some help to you
if it helps at all - in horses if the animal has a regular irregular heartbeat that's okay but if it has an irregular heartbeat it's not. hope this makes sense and I don't see why a dog should be any different. obviously I could be wrong and that's only an opinion. hope your dog is okay.

Thank you both for all your help , not as anxious now, could hardly sleep last night for anxiety. Thanks again Brenda.
My old JRxBorder had a heart murmur for years. She lived to 15 without it giving her any trouble. For her last couple of months the vet said her heart wasn't too good, but it was kidney failure she died of. So I shouldn't worry if I were you.
