My moggie came in earlier & had a very tender tummy. When I fianlly got to have a look there is a bald patch about the roughly 3/4 of an inch square on his side just as it goes under his belly. It doesn't look like a bite as there are no puncture wounds & it's pink & completly hairless. It looks like the fur has been ripped out as if he's been waxed! Is it something I should worry about?
Could he have been hit by a vehicle? There may be little sign of this except the dragging takes off some fur and he will be sore. Does he seem to be in pain or uncomfortable?
It's tender when you try to touch it & he won't let me pick him up but he doesn't seem in pain other wise. He's jumping about as usual & his appetite is fine - crispy duck & beef in black bean sauce tonight. I don't think he's been hit by a car or anything as he hasn't any other injuries.
Has he been fighting? Mine do, I have no idea who with (apart from Rover, who has serious issues with one of next door's cats). They come in sometimes and don't want anyone to touch them, just sit and think themselves better for a few hours. As long as he's eating and otherwise happy, and there's no infection you can see, I wouldn't worry.
Does he use a cat-flap ? We had a similar problem with our ouss which we traced to her rubbing her tummy on the bottom of the door tunnel. I fixed a little platform in front of the door to raise her tum and that stopped the problem.
