Hi.
Our 10 week old kitten has suddenly come with a problem in one eye this morning.
Firstly the 3rd eyelid started to come across and he was trying to rub and clean it and within an hour it has swollen up and he is struggling to open it.
We have tried wiping it clean with a cotton ball soaked in hot water but not sure what else to do? There is no vet open until tomorrow and he's been crying and now he's sleeping. Any ideas?
He did go in for his first vaccinations on Friday but I assume it is nothing to do with that?
it sounds like he has something in his eye, are you sure no vet near you does an out of hours service? most of them do, failing that, you might try an animal shelter to see if they have a vet on call who would help you out. If you have any olive oil, then one drop in the eye if you can get it in might help and won't hurt
I did get hold of a vet and they said it was £100 just to see him and then possibly more, i said i would give it another hour. It does seem to be getting better now luckily, he can open it and the swelling has reduced although the eye is cloudy but hopefully he may be on the mend.
Thanks.
yes, OOH vets are not cheap...and the wee things alway seem to need the vet on a friday night or at the weekend or bank hol...even if you don't insure, its worth having a pet emergency savings account I reckon...glad to hear she is picking up
