News about Alfie

Hi folks, I thought I'd update you about Alfie. The x-rays revealed something completely unexpected - that his digestive system was configured wrongly and everything was in the wrong place. The vet asked if she could carry out surgery straight away and warned that it would cost anything up to £1,000, depending on what she found. I told her to do whatever she had to do, and I walked out of the surgery a sobbing mess. I finally got a call about 9:20pm to say that she had found a badly twisted colon that was on the verge of rupturing, although, worryingly, she was unable to determine the cause of his condition, as there was no obvious blockage. She managed to reposition everything but warned me that he was still "a very poorly boy".
I phoned this morning and she was thrilled to inform me that Alfie had done a big poo and, providing he keeps his food down today, he can come home later this afternoon. I don't think I've ever been so scared in my life!
Thank you everyone for your well wishes. x x

He lived to be a grumpy (very grumpy) old man. The vet said that he was probably the runt of the litter - horrible thing to say about my baby. ';-)
Alfie must feel so much better now that he has done his poo.
It is also really good that you got him to the vets before the colon ruptured - that would have been very bad.
Best wishes to both of you - and I hope that Alfie is up and running around soon.
