Can aAnybody Identify Bird

Yesterday whilst getting the washing in, I noticed a bird in next door but ones garden and thought it was a Bullfinch at first - not usual in our gardens, but on closer inspection it was a bit longer, thinner and full bright red breast markings (beak to tail) - I couldn't find it in my birdwatching book. Any body got any ideas?

Just looked on RSPB site - could it be a crossbill? Must admit I've never seen one, but with the strong winds perhaps it got blown off course?

I was thinking possibly a Redstart but it's roughly the size of a Bullfinch !
Not sure what else matches your description

I thought that as well, hellywelly but it was a more vivid red - like a cardinal red rather than an orangey red

Never seen a redstart where we are, Redman, do we get them on Anglesey?

Summer migrant WelshYorkie. underparts are rusty Red. Could be something else instead, all I can think of for now.

Must have been that then, Redman, but never seen one by ours before. Little bu99er flew off before I could get my binoculars to have a really close look

Might be a male Redpoll. They show a red front during breeding

three options as Redman sad common redstart...they had some on Great Orme so most likely... next most likely is a male linnet some of those have a good red underwing and sides to their breast. and redpoll would be third on my list... depends on if the rest of he bird was clean coloured or a speckly job speckly job go with a slightly overcoloured linnet

Hawfinch? Their breast looks a rustic colour at some angles and are somewhat similar to a bullfinch.

hawfinch is too stocky as Welshy said longer thinner than bullfinch
