Sometimes when we feed our cats, they paw at the floor as if they would if they had just toileted in the garden, you know, like they were trying to cover it up? I'm sure it cant taste that bad, does anyone know why they do this?

my cat used to do that when she was old because she couldn't see and used to feel for the bowl.

I agree with In A Pickle, in the same way that my cat smashes his food around the kitchen in an attempt to kill what's usually a slice of ham or peice of cooked fish.
My cats do it to the dogs food as well, and to our empty plates if we leave them on the floor.  In a Pickle is absolutely correct with his explanation.
Natalie, I always laugh at your tales about your cat!!  He sounds a right bruiser, bless him. x
