Was on a peat bog (somewhere between Derby and Manchester) the other week and saw THE most unusual droppings, they looked almost identical to cigarette buts but fractionally longer, slightly bent and orange coloured- they weren't cigatette butts I can assure you!

What kind of animal leaves droppings like that??? I'm puzzled - can you help?

Thanks in advance, Mitchell

Sounds to me like someone has dropped a packet of Cheesy Wotsits nearby.
Owl pellets?

Mitchell,

The droppings that you saw came from a grouse. Consult a bird field guide if you wish to determine what species of grouse would be found in your area.

Hi Kevin, I definately think you're right & it's a Red Grouse due to someone's (similar) answer on another message board.

Thank you, you've solved that mystery.
