Coughy sneezy cat

Never before has ASBo had a cold. But for the last 24 hours he has been sneezing and coughing. He is OK in other respects, but should I get the kevlar gloves out and put him in a box and take him to see Uncle Vet?

He then the next afternoon pretty ill and I took him to the vet - he was diagnosed with asthma. I had been spraying odour neutralising stuff (febreeze/frebreeze or whatever) and that is what started him off.
Two years later we have a battle twice a day - he takes his inhaler very reluctantly. :-)
I hope ASBO is okay - he sounds like a nice little cat.

My Stubby used to get a cold twice a year. He didn't have one for about 5 years and then had one recently. He had rheumy eyes for a few days, sneezed and was very clingy, wanting to squeeze up to me on the bed, but he soon gets over them. A week at the most. As long as your cat is up to date with boosters, I shouldn't worry too much, it could even be pollen from mowed lawns, etc.
Well I took ASBO to the vets. She thought he had got a cold. She gave him antibiotics (to ward off any secondary infection) and some decongestant. However, he has got worse. He barely ate at all yesterday (normally, he'll take your hand off for tuna, but only smearing it round his mouth made him eat). He did eat today (tuna and prawns, spoilt malingering bugger). I called the vets yesterday and she said to leave it a couple more days to give the antibiotics time to work. If no better by tomorrow to take him back.
Breaks my heart cos I've never seen him looking so sorry for himself.

Hi Barmaid. Poor little Asbo :( From my days of being owned by several rescue cats (7 at one time - 28 legs worth of feline fur) I dreaded the days they were down and off their food, for whatever reason. One excellent remedy I found was:-

I used to buy it at the local chemist - they also did a beef flavour. I had to syringe it into their little mouths - never an easy chore - blanket around the cat held with one hand, other hand to open that alligator's mouth and then - why were cat lovers not born with 3 hands?
Anyway, I can fully recommend the amazing properties of this product - always worked on the little tigers and got their appetites back. I wish Asbo a speedy recovery back to his normal, adorable, affectionate self ;)
