minimum depth of water for koi carp

I am having to move a large 18"Koi from its existing pond, I have been offered a pond for it to go to which is very large in size and netted but only 18" deep, I wonder if thats deep enough ?

SP is right. 18" is no way near deep enough, the fish will need to go down for shelter and in winter. I know my mother in laws pond is over 4ft deep and her fish were about same size.

Get digging and build a proper pond.

As sir,prize says a minimum of four feet don't forget Koi can grow to a fair old size and need plenty of room, especially in winter my own pond is oval about 25ft by 12ft and about 5ft deep at it's deepest. They need to be able well below any ice get in winter and I've never lost any fish in the winter

Thanks for your answers ,the pond it is in at the moment is over 1 .3 mtrs so safe at the moment, Will find somewhere more suitable for its future.
