If you want a pedigree dog, contact the Kennel Club HQ in London and ask for the names of reputable breeders in your area. You will have to pay more, but you are more likely to get a well-bred animal, with less chance of in-bred defects giving your pet a shorter life, and giving you bigger vet bills. If you are not too fussed about breeding, or you are on a budget, check your Yellow Pages, or local pet shops for the names of JR breeders near you, and have a look. Remember, they all look aodrable as puppies, so be prepared to harden your heart and say no if you're not completely sure if the puppy is right for you. Your puppy should be bright eyed and keen to come to you - if he hangs back, or has dull eyes, or lis listless, avoid paying money. It sounds hard, but you would only be buying pain and expense for you and your family. Follow these simple rules, buy a healthy dog, and enjoy him.
