Boxer Dog breeding
31 Answers
Hello all,just a quick question...
I have a 4 year old Stud Albino Boxer dog with 1 baby blue eye and 1 brown eye.I am looking to get him a litter however when i first bought him (privately) I paid £800 for him and he was given all he's first ingections with that. The seller also said he would send out the official document's for him after a few week's of waiting I didn't receive any paper's...I wanted either my money back or atleast the paper's.
However due to being scared he didn't have any papers i was scared the breeder who i bought it off would want to take the dog back.As you do i fell in love with my dog so was not willing to risk it..but now i would love to give my dog a litter I am wondering if it is still possible to breed him without he's papers.
Obviously i have emailed a number of people and once they see the pictures of my dog they also think he is a gorgeous animal..i have told all breeders we haven't got he's papers and the whole story and this has turned people off a bit (which i understand) so now im just thinking is there a way i can get him papers or something i can do to find him a breeder that is willing to go ahead without papers.
I no there are alot of rumours about albino boxer's and i would like to say all those rumours are false.I have had a brindle boxer in the past and she had nothing but problems, suffering with fit's,a tumour etc etc.The dog I have now is very healthy and not had one problem with him in the 4 years i have had him.So if there is anyone who could advice me on where to go from here i would be very greatful.

I think that many of the problems in the dog are attributable to people who breed unhealthy dogs with no consideratio n for their genes. Dogs should only be intentionall y bred if they are exceptional examples of their breed and carry no genes for inheritable illnesses.
Confused - your dog is healthy looking and has been healthy all its life. But you know...

Hi, I would suggest you have a look around the net as you seem inexperienced of your breed....to start you off this is from Wiki....
White Boxers
Boxers with white markings covering more than one-third of their coat – conventionally called "white" Boxers – are neither albino nor rare; approximately 20–25% of all Boxers born are white.[5] Genetically, these dogs are either fawn or brindle, with excessive white markings overlying the base coat color. Like fair-skinned humans, white Boxers have a higher risk of sunburn and associated skin cancers than colored Boxers. The extreme piebald gene, which is responsible for white markings in Boxers, is linked to congenital sensorineural deafness in dogs. It is estimated that about 18% of white Boxers are deaf in one or both ears,[6] though Boxer rescue organizations see about double that number.[7][8] In the past, breeders often euthanized white puppies at birth; today, most breeders place white puppies in pet homes with spay/neuter agreements. White Boxers are disqualified from conformation showing by the breed standard, although in 2010, the German Boxer Club opened up an exhibition-only conformation class for white Boxers. They are prohibited from breeding by every national Boxer club in the world, but can compete in non-conformation events such as obedience and agility, and like their coloured counterparts do quite well as service and therapy dogs.

I don't doubt that you would ensure any pups you may have would go to a good home but that's not the point. The more important issue is how you can assure that any animal you might breed is the healthiest it can be and for that you need to know it's lineage and be able to research the health and longevity of it's lines.
You can't know this without a pedigree which will show you the names of his ancestors and with a little research you should be able to find out if there are any issues. I'm not sure why you insist on calling genetic problems rumours, if you did a bit more research into your breed you might find there is a lot factual information about them. You say you doubt that some of us here know what we are talking about so maybe you'd do better on a boxer breed forum as I suggested before. You are absolutely correct in saying we don't know you but you don't know us either and you shouldn't be so quick to dismiss the information some of us have given you just because you don't like it. Try here instead www.thebritishboxerclub.co.uk you also might like to read this http://www.thekennelc...k/breeding/index.html

I'm sure you love your dog, would only do the best for the puppies etc but the critical point is white boxers are not accepted in the show ring so I can't imagine anyone wanting to pay to put their bitch to a white boxer, especially if they were breeders aiming to maintain a reputation in the breeding world.
Just as an aside £800 is a massive amount to pay for a white puppy, I hope you haven't been caught out by an unscrupulous breeder, the lack of papers doesn't help dispel this fear either.

Oh dear dear. A typical knowitall novice. Lankeela wasnt being rude, but your lack of knowledge shows how naive you are. I would be interested to know what health tests he has, surely he isnt being tested for HD every six months?

lol If confused thinks my post was rude, they should see what I write when I want to be rude! I thought my answer was factual and contained good advice considering the obvious lack of knowledge regarding dog breeding. These sort of 'breeders' give us all a bad name. Sadly no doubt some tw&t will let them use this dog on their bitch - yet more puppies bred with no papers and no health test results - makes me so bloody angry.
Confused87, please do not mistake sound advice for rudeness! You have had some extremely honest and sound advice here from Lankeela and others who are indeed very knowledgeable dog owner and breeders, so please listen to them. I'm sure your dog is lovely and very special to you, but unfortunately that does not make him suitable for breeding! Breeding is something that should only be done with great care! It is a big responsibility. Sadly too many see it as a money spinner! I am not claiming that you do, but do you want people to see you in this light? There is no need for your dog to breed, nor is there any good reason. One should not breed with a dog or bitch that does not conform to the breed standard, as the pups can end up having so many health problems. Please be sensible and ditch the idea of breeding with your boxer! Just enjoy your lovely boy and please don't add to the many, many puppies that are ramdomly bred only to end up in rescue centres! Btw, there is no way you can get the dogs paper's if the breeder has not given them to you. The Kennel Club will not give you a copy unless you are stated as the owner on the original ones and this has been registered with the KC. If the breeder didn't give you the papers, then I am sure they had a good reason. It is possible they did not want you to be able to breed with this dog, as it is clearly not suitable for breeding. In this case, the breeder was being responsible and acting appropriately. Sorry.
