Hi there, i have a nine banded armadillo which i've had as a pet for several years called ralph so am pretty much clued up armadillowise.
I was out earlier and had notice3d that ralph was excessively scratch himself aginst the garden post which is not unusual but was noted i then went out for a couple of hours and when i came back found ralph had completly moulted his armoured case, ive never heard of this happening and am a little shocked.
He looks extremely pink and the poor mite is shivering in the corner looking at me with as i type this.
That's hardly likely boo, i came here as this site was highly recommended for its and its users abilitities to answer almost everything but this question seems to have attracted a myriad of jokers, japesters and clowns. I do have great sense of humour but i really wanted a serious answer for this question that has left me very rattled.
Sooo - you have a rare small animal - you have no vet contacts - you post on a public site whenyou believe your animal is in extremis.
You poor poor soul, this is your Staurday night?
Cut this out and wrap it round Ralph, and try to fit his real shell round over the top. He'll catch his death without his shell, he must be all floppy.
Armadillows can't shed their shells...they are an outgrowth of their skin
So the can't go out on a saturday night They always must stay in
I really worry that if youve been sold a dodgy plated pet
You probably need the services of a zoo dear not a vet
