Hope they are all ok, my JRT has decided its his duty to see the fireworks off, had to get stern with him last night, thought he was ok but as soon as we got to our friends for a party tonight, our daughter texted to say he was going manic again so we had to come home, bless him!

As I said above Frank took no notice of the fireworks last night, this morning I've just had a rather strong coffee which has given me the hiccups and now he's trembling under the table, poor thing. Better take him out, see if that cheers him up.
It was Ellie's first bonfire night with us and she was brilliant. She's lived a fairly quiet life in kennels (other than the dogs, of course) and we live half a mile from the park where they do the big civic firework display. The bigger bangs made her start a little but as soon as she saw we weren't taking the slightest notice of them, she settled back to sleep again.

What she'd have been like if we'd both gone out last night, I'm not sure, but that's something I would never do to any dog on bonfire night.

Fine, no noise here.
My poor dog had been, shaking, panting, and very stressed, he's the same tonight as its started all over again, all thanks to some kids throwing fireworks at him the week before bonfire night when he was a pup, 8 years later and the least little noise set him off, even the clickers you get to train them. Tried everything over the years, nothing works.
That's a horrible thing to have happen fairycakes. A friend of mine had the exact same thing happen to his dog when a pup, poor thing never did get over it and like yours he would tremble at the slightest hint of a bang for his entire 14 years.
Evianbaby - do you think tuna is the miracle cure for all curable cat ills?
I do.
who the unicular has posted an offensive one that had to be removed? What world are we living in?
The catz were OK yesterday - not sure where No 1son is at the moment, Black Spot is here - but there are only a handful of fireworks round here tonight.
Mine needed loud telly, my loud singing and 3 doses of Zylkene to get through it...and its started again tonight. They finished last night just before midnight. We did all the desensitisation when they were pups, all the advised stuff to no avail. They ar generally cheerful bold outgoing dogs but they just HATE fireworks. I can live with and manage the set occasions of the year but its been most nights now since Diwali and frankly I have had enough
Sympathy an respeck, woofgang
We've had more VERY noisy ones tonight. Poor Sally is upstairs hiding in the dark. As for walking her-it's almost impossible. She starts trembling as soon as we are out the door.
Luckily my dog isn't scared, although one or two of the louder bangs made him look up in puzzlement. I feel so sorry for the pets that are scared and especially for wildlife. Thank God it's over!!
can you hear it ?????????????????? no fire works :)

Mixed reactions then, Pasta, Fairy and Woofgang, sounds like you are all glad its over, as I said I do enjoy fireworks but maybe they should be restricted by law to a designated night, or nights, eg only on November 5th (and Diwali) plus the saturday that is closest to those dates.
We've had less fireworks round here than in prevous years and Jack (eldest dog) was not nearly as upset about them than on previous years, (I think that he's going deaf in his old age!) but Isla (youngest dog, belgian shepherd) was very upset by them and I had just lured her into the garden and was waiting for her to have a pee, when the most enourmous rocket sailed overhead, and exploded over our garden! Anyway, I hope that they are over and done with for another year.
Just been in Sainsburys and they have a display cabinet still full of fireworks - I asked a bemused customer services assistant why they were selling fireworks when it was over last week and she gave me some waffle about it being store policy to sell 'out of date' goods off cheap - I asked if she could speak to the local vets and ask if they would sell their 'anti firework' preparations off cheap as well - all I got was a huff and a 'look' that said we've got a right nutter here.
Good for you lankeela. I too have queried fireworks for sale long after the event and not met with much success !
Nice one, lankeela!
Good for you, lankeela! I will now spend the next several weeks trying to help Sally get her confidence back. She starts to tremble as soon as we go out the door, and a walk is 2 steps forward, and another back,as she struggles to get back to 'safety'........I really hate seeing her so stressed.
