lol pusskin, I don't bother soaking mine and we don't see a lot of starlings. I just put a few out at a time, some on the table which the sparrows eat and some in a dish on the ground for the blackbirds. They're not too interested lately, I think there's still a lot of berries/fruit about.
Hi Robinia. I've only bought meal worm to invite the robins, not a mass of starlings haha. Our garden is buzzing with birds, but once starlings spot the mealworm they go potty and appear like magic. saying that , a woodpecker has arrived for the third time today and happily munching on the peanuts. So its not such a bad day after all lol
Have you got a quiet spot where you can sneak a few worms in, robins are very good at watching you & spotting where you've left the treats? I used to put some on a garden bench at the bottom of the garden when I knew he was around. Lucky you, having a woodpecker, we only have the occasional one having a pit stop. :o)
Ours is a small garden, and a raised bed at the bottom, so will give that a try now, see if that works. Were always thrilled to see the woodpecker every day recently, so excitied. He's been 4 times today, but we darent move around for fear of frightnening him off.
