Dog hair on clothes!

Anyone got any ideas (other than the obvious) on how to remove dog hairs from clothes, especially fleece type clothing! I have tried; shaking it, brushing it, and hoovering it and now it's in the wash for the third time with not much change in the amount of hairs removed. :-( any ideas people, what has worked for you?

Sellotape, dab it on the hairs stick.

Yes definitely, sellotape, or buy one of those rollers with sticky tape on it. We have this problem all the time with the catz - washing doesn't get it out, it's caught in the fibres, you have to sticky it out.

Sticky rollers or sellotape wrapped around your hand work perfectly.. If you have some marigolds lying around, you can dampen them and wipe across the clothes.. I haven't tried it personally but I think it works x

erin, you do mean those yellow gloves, and not the smelly flowers which we plant to keep slugs away... don't you?

There are special things just for this called "lint rollers". They are covered with a sticky gel and you roll them over clothes. wash under tap when "full" and use again and again. Mine from Lidl at about £2 for two.

Living with four cats we constantly need to buy those sticky rollers. Erin's advice regarding the rubber gloves works very well.

tumble drying (on a low heat for fleece and delicates etc) works wonders. you may have to experiment with your clothes as to which ones get destroyed in the process, but it really is the only solution. for the stuff i can't tumble dry, i use a sticky roller brush and make sure those clothes never touch the floor, sofas, cats etc. which is quite annoying x

Definitely tumble drying on low heat. The only thing for me that really works.

Even if dried on the washing line I often stick mine in the tumble for fifteen minutes to remove excess hair.

Suede gloves work well too - and furminators, but only on fabric that won't catch

I'd go with the sticky roller thing or Marigold although I have now cured the problem permanantly by having dogs that don't moult.

I have loads of lint rollers but I agree with the marigolds. They work brilliantly even if not dampened.

Definitely tumble dry on low,it works for getting all types of animal hair off any clothing

Like lankeela, even if line dried or dried inside all my washing goes in the tumble drier for about ten minutes afterwards. It softens the washing makes ironing less necessary and gets rid of all the animal hairs that remain on the fabric.

We have two dogs and three cats, around the house we wear clothing we aren't that worried about getting hairy. Special clothes like work clothes/uniforms and going out clothes are kept in the closets. If we end up with a bit of hair before going to work/out, we have a roll of brown packing tape that we use to pick up the hairs off of our clothes. If a cat/dog has laid on an article of clothing, after the washing machine, use a dryer sheet in the tumble dryer, that seems to help quite a bit, but then use the packing tape too to get off any stray bits.

Some pet shops have a special sponge, you dampen it, and as you move it over clothing, it removed hairs.
A rinse under a cold tap to remove hairs 're-charges' it.
