Threre's a big doggy shaped hole in our house. I'd noticed over the last few days that Max seemed a bit wobbley but this morning he really struggled to stand I had to lift him into the car. He didn't want to walk and when he did it was a struggle, so I knew like it or not it was time. I stayed with him to the end while Trish waited in the car. She's in tears and I'm not much better I'd forgotten just how upsetting it is when your fury friend goes

Oh Paddy, my heart goes out to you and Trish - big ((HUG))
So sorry to hear this but it sounds like you you acted responsibly and done the right thing but still heartbreaking I know.

I dread these days coming to us with our dogs :(
I can't express how very sorry I am. I have outlived two dogs and a cat - oh and my parents. Needless to say that the four legged ones that caused me the most distress.

Max was in the house, lurking in anticipation of food and walkies all the time - you will miss him being around so much. I was always certain that I saw my furries in my peripheral vision.

Best wishes to you and Trish

Susan
Oh no, so sorry to hear that.

Love and hugs to you and Trish :-)
bless you, paddywak. it's hard to do the right thing by your friend.....but you had the courage and strength to do it. of course there will be a massive gap in your lives, but you will all need to grieve for all the love and laughter your pet gave you. (((((((big hugs))))))) from all in the kicker household x
Sorry to hear that Paddy xx :-(
Oh shame, he's a lovely fella. You did the right thing and all that but still very sad.
Oh I'm really sorry, Max was so beautiful. My heart goes out to both of you
I feel for you sadly losing them is the price we pay for loving them and being loved in return.
Never gets any easier - however much you know you've done the right thing ...

love & hugs to both of you

Paddy & Trish - ouch, I can feel your pain and tears, our hound has given us a few run ins, with a vet bill to match. I can only sympathise with you both. He'll be somewhere waiting for you … in the meantime massive hugs and cuddles for you both. You know you did what's right - doesn't make it easier. Take Care ♥

Thanks for your messages eveyone, you really dont realise how big a part your dog plays in your life, I mean we took Max virtually everywhere with us. It won't feel the same at night with out Max asleep across my feet or sitting next to Trish with his head on her lap while she tickled him a the back of his ears
paddy, that's so sad, the last time it happened to me (7 yrs ago) someone said to me "don't mourn their passing, celebrate their life" it helped.
So sorry to hear your sad news paddywack. I went through the same in January with our Charlie. Just remember all the good times you had with Max.
So sorry paddywak. It is so heart breaking, but you know you have done the right thing.

Take care, both of you.

xx
I'm very sorry to read your news, Paddy - my best wishes to you & Trish
I'm sorry paddywak - I know that big hole in the house only too well and I wouldn't wish that pain on anyone. The main thing is he was loved (and so many aren't). You cared and that's why you hurt now. Talk about him and cry, it helps.
So sorry to hear this paddy and Trish.

I hope the fond and loving memories will, at some point, start to comfort the hole in your hearts.
It's lovely to hear you stayed with him at the end paddy, I think that is so important. So many people don't. Like you if I could possibly take my dog with me I always have done. They break your heart don't they - be kind to yourselves. X
Sad news, cherish the memories you have, he will always have a pawprint on your heart. x
