I have just found quite a few native bluebells flowering in my garden.

I remember my birthday treat when I was little was to go bluebell picking in the woods, my birthday is in May!

I know this year has been a funny one but over recent years they have been up long before my birthday.

Have you noticed changes like this?

Yes, everything is coming up a little ealier than it used to.
Don't go picking em now for Gawd's sake, they're a protected plant species ;-)
you can pick them in your own garden.

I think you are still OK picking them, with the landowners permission, you just can't dig up the plants.
Awww dont :-(

Always much better where they're supposed to be- growing in the wild (or in your case Eccles, your garden).

Crikey im a softy!
yes. i used to go to forests with my parents to pick up all sorts of food stuffs and remember clearly being able to wander in swathes of bluebells which carpeted the floor of the woods. i loved being able to pick a few and have them in a vase in my room - it made me feel so grown up! it makes me angry to see all the ugly foreign bluebells that have invaded our gardens and public spaces x
They last much longer left where they are for everyone to enjoy.

And yes to your question. My friend who's birthday is in January says there always used to be snow on the day, but not any more.
