my schnauzers.....
5 Answers
I have 2 schnauzers, aged 8 years, 2 sisters.....They get groomed regularly . but now, instead of being white, their moustaches are greyish and even with a tinge of russet......does anyone know how to get them back in pristine white condition ? The groomer says that she uses a special shampoo for dogs with grey fur ...is the colour change due to age ? It is a long time since I went to Crufts but I remember that the schnauzers I saw had Dulux-white bushy eyebrows and moustaches.....Is my memory failing me ? help much appreciated.

Greying is due to age; I don't think there's anything you can do about that. There are dogs of 8 at Cruft's; there are veteran classes; but not a lot, so what you saw there would probably not be like yours . Show dogs are maintained for show and are kept unusually smart and groomed (I take photos there to shame my own dogs, but they don't pay attention). And their owners have a few legitimate techniques for getting snowy white looks (but having a dog which puts up a cloud of chalk dust when touched is not supposed to be one!). Your groomer should be able to improve the look of your dog, as she suggests.
