constant casting ?

4 year old , in rude health, white short haired dog, who is constantly casting, groomed daily, any advice grateful. TIA

Do you mean moulting? I doubt there's much you can do about it if as you say you can rule out any medical issues then it's just something you just have to put up with. I used to have Cavaliers which used to shed vast amounts of hair despite being regularly groomed. Leather furniture, laminated floors and never wearing anything black or navy will help a bit, or do as I eventually did and get a non moulting breed.

A good bath will get rid of dead hair, and try giving a daily supplement like Yumega.

thanks jules, a friend suggested cod liver oil, would that help.( added to food )

The dog we have (short haired) , was adopted via the Blue cross, when we got her home we noted that she didn't shed much hair. Within a fortnight she was shedding her coat continually, much the same as all our other dogs have. We put the change down to the fact that she was just to warm in a house and that when we adopted her (during the winter) she had access to an outdoor run all day and that her kennel wouldn't have been overheated. If your dog is living in a warm environment and moulting excessively it could be that it is reacting to its surrounding temperature.

Cod liver oil will help, I prefer Yumega has it has more essential oils added. I also give a tin of sardines once or twice a week. Regular grooming is the key. Last year my friend had a couple of dogs that lived in kennels with outdoor runs and they were moulting more than those that lived in the house.
