Spent a very entertaining half an hour today watching the neighbour's cat (Dennis) trying to get to food. I had some sausages past their "sell by" date so cooked them, chopped them up and put out for the birds - some on the ground and the rest on the bird table. Dennis promptly arrived and ate up all those on the ground. He could obviously smell the ones on the bird table, but couldn't figure out how to get to them. He tried climbing up but couldn't get over the edge; climbed a tree close by but it was too far for him to jump. Absolutely hilarious to watch him. Had to go out and all gone when I got back.......but who got them, Dennis or the birds??

Ah Mick, don't know what you're missing.
my guess is the birds. if dennis did not succeed the first time, he would not have succeeded later on, and the birds would not wait. i love cats too
I don't love them either .
Neither does the bird population that no longer frequents my garden due to the murderer that lives next door but poops on MY lawn !!
I'm surprised that Dennis didn't just go and get a ladder - they are cunning creatures when they want something.

Shaney - I empathise with you, cats are not everybody's favourite animal. My dad used to feed the birds in his garden so that he could sit and watch them. There was usually a moggie or two lurking in the bushes - I don't think that they were overly successful hunters.

I was always a dog lover - but now that I have been adopted by Frankie and Merlin I am addicted. You just never know what they are going to do next. Frankie was trying to open the fridge a moment ago - the lure of tuna.

:-)
Hunting is natural behaviour for cats, as is barking all hours of the day and night and fouling the pavement for dogs... or so my neighbour told me when I complained that her mutt was driving me insane.
That middle one with the crown in snaggles pic...is Indi!
Lol Snags....so true.
I love all animals with the exception of the seven cats from over the road who poo in our back garden,Mrs owd does her best to deter them , but to no avail/
