Just my luck!!

I had just about got Isla more or less happy to travel in the back of our new car (I wrote the previous car off when I collided with the back of a very solid lorry - airbags went off, and poor dog nearly had a heart attack) I'd been giving her her supper in the back of the car, and going on short trips, and praising lavishly when she's been good - I got home with her today and parked in my drive - suddenly the car locked itself and alarms went off with us still on the inside! They are very loud, and by the time I got out and reached the back of the car the poor girl was trying to scrabble her way out. So now I'm back to step 1 - building up her confidence again! that's the only trouble with Belgian Shepherd dogs - they are rather on the ultra sensitive side. (I feel better now I've had a moan.)

I will go and have a word with the local garage - they are very friendly and can tell me if something needs to be done. Thanks alba.
Sorry to hear about your doggy problems islasmum, I've been fortunate in that my GSD's never had any problems with the car in fact if I left the tailgate open both of them would jump in and sit there all day as long as they got a little ride at the end of it. Re the self locking I'm on my fourth Focus estate and I've never experianced this, but then again I normally get straight out of the car and lock it. I'll give it a try when I go and move the car down the drive later on and see what happens.
We are off to dog training this afternoon, which she adores, seeing other dogs, and she really likes the trainer, so hopefully this will settle her down a bit, and remind her that life is generally fun. Re the car - I did exactly the same as I did yesterday this morning (minus dog) and nothing happened - I do hope that this is not going to be a gremlin in the works! Our previous neighbours next door had one car that every time the wind blew in the wrong direction the alarm went off, usually three or four times a week! A bit tiresome, but they were very good neighbours in most respects.
