I was sitting in my kitchen last night with the missus when her sister came over with a "surprise" for us so we're sitting there having a cuppa whilst my missus goes down this never ending list which is boring me to death and to be quite frank is making me drift slowly off to sleep are you pregnant? "no" are you getting married again? "no" are you adopting a small group of under privileged children from the far reaches of the globe to adopt them? "no" and so it went on and on and on until i catch sight of a rat crawling on the missus's sisters coat so i jumped up and grabbed the rolling pin as i pushed the sister off her stool and shouted "A Rats on you! The sister shouted, no that's just my little pookie and pulled out a tiny ratlike dog from her bag.

So it transpires that this pookie was the surprise and it got me thinking as today i noticed at least 7 women with pink, purple or glitter covered handbags with little faces poking out.

My question is WHY? Who thought it was a good idea to start finding the smallest dog you can find and imprison it in your bag and it wasn't just dogs, one of the women had some weird furless south american creature which i can't for the life of me remember what species it was.

What are your views on this and can we soon expect to see men following in their footsteps carrying pets in their manbags?

Where does this end? Snakes in a briefcase? A Racoon in a sportsbag? An Eagle in a rucksack?

I need a long stiff drink to get my head around this.

Captaincrunch, you do make me laugh!

Dogs should walk. Handbags are not for livestock.
:-)
Lol captn.
I think I need a stiff drink as well.. A dog in a handbag is just not on.
Well my Badger in a briefcase gets heads turning.
unfortunately it doesn't end with handbags.

I've had bees in my bonnet for years.
I know what you mean. My sister used to take her pet goldfish for walkies on a little leash, it had learned to take little steps balanced on its tail, real clever little fish it was. As always with these type of stories, they always end in tragedy and this one is no different.... one day it was raining and the poor fish slipped and drowned in a deep puddle.
I told Mrs Owd Ihad a one eyed trouser python, huh more like a slow worm she replied.
Badger in a briefcase...TURTLE POWER!
Oh hang on that's wrong.
Lol. I used to have chihuahua and actually had no other option but to carry him, as he would not walk. If I tried to put a lead on him, he's just drag along the pavement. I felt so bad that I ended up carrying him everywhere - in a bag. They're not normal handbags though, they are specifically designed for dogs!
What puzzles me is, all dogs are descended from wolves and, in theory, can still cross breed with wolves.
I wonder what sort of creature would be the offspring of "little pookie" and a wolf?
Not sure Graham, but I bet it would stop pickpockets lifting purses out of handbags.
And another thought. Wolves run in packs. Shouldn't we have packs of "little pookies"? Now there's a scary thought.
Remember, a handbag isn't just for christmas....you can spend all through the year.
Graham, a poof.
or a wookie
sadly rescues are getting more and more "handbag" dogs dumped on them when people realise that they are dogs, will wee in the handbag poo all over the house and get generally nasty because they aren't allowed to live normal lives. There was one in the recent series that Paul O'Grady did at Battersea Dogs and Cats Home.

I believe that Paris Hilton started it.
I prefer the "wookie" ;-))
