Sure... but just as in other species some birds sense of smell is better developed.  Vultures, for example, can smell carrion for miles and it's known that many seagoing birds  such as albatrosses can find their way to land by smell... even the New Zealand Kiwi finds food under the forest floor by it's sense of smell.  Bird researchers have known for some time that the apparatuse for smell is present in all birds...
