Tenant Left Her Cats Behind And One Is Pregnant.
48 Answers
Went round today to feed them as felt terrible. How could she leave them and move out like that. What do i do? I can't bring them home...hubby has phobia....wimp!! and i won't know how to take care of a pregnant cat anyway. I feel so awful that their home is no more theirs. They sit outside wondering is she will let them in....i can't let them in as the house is to let again and just had it cleaned as they peed inside and pooed all over the house, she left them locked in. Some people are unbelievable.

No not heard from her, won't answer her phone. Was an alcoholic, had weapons under her bed, scrounged benefits. doors have been smashed in....cats have damaged carpets/lino, she never provided a litter tray or scratch post. Neighbour told me cat had 3 previous litters and is 9 years old, and all three litters died of dehydration and starvation, im determined for her to have a healthy litter this time.
Our cat is a rescue cat. Same thing happened with her.
Her owners moved up north (so neighbours said) and just left her. Neighbours fed her for a while & contacted the RSPCA, they sent officers round but couldn't catch her for 6 weeks. When we got her she was almost ferrel & its taken us nearly 4 years for her to get back to some sort of normality.
Yes, how can people do that?

I have been in very very similair position but with a lot more animals, personally I have NO confidence in the RSPCA......But if you do call them DO NOT tell them that you have fed the cats, they will not help you if you feed them, local animal rescue will probably be much much more helpful to you. Ihave had similair dealings with the RSPCA and they were awful. I would never give them any money ever again, Money grabbing, useless organisation.

During my time in animal rescue I came across a very unsavoury character, a bird breeder who 'disposed' of his surplus birds by sellotaping their wings together and smashing the birds against a brick wall.
On reporting this to the RSPCA, I was told they "may" be interested if I could provide them with videotaped evidence.
When I commented that it was highly unlikely that the chap would allow me to video him doing it, they replied, "Well in that case we can't help you." (Or words to that effect).
That wasn't the only disappointing experience with them, either.

I hope Cats Protection will help you, I took have had bad experience with RSPCA. Our neighbours just abandoned their kitten years back when they moved - not speyed but fortunately not pregnant - so I took her in. Poor things - evil bitch for abandoning animals who depended on her. Thank goodness they have you to look out for them, phleb. Let us know how you get on.
If I have a bad experience with the RSPCA, I write a very, very strong letter to their HQ's and this always brings results. I demand action and threaten them with the national and local press if I don't get it. This always works, but it is a shame I have to do it to get help for an animal.
phleb - sorry, but why did you take on such a vile tenant ?

Well, i rang the RSPCA, as there was no room anywhere else for them due to funding. RSPCA are useless as some of you quite clearly stated, they also have no room for the cats and as they are being fed, they can stay out till room is available. I told them that it is very cold outside, they visited the house and saw the cats looked healthy and fat, so not priority. They then proceeded to look at next door neighbours house, which is also empty, and i am sad to say that the tenants that lived in the next door house had a pet rabbit in a hutch in the shed, and when they moved they left it behind. No one seen it,even the property owner has not been as yet (not our property) but RSPCA inspector saw the poor rabbit today, dead in its hutch. Sad sick people out there that would leave innocent pets without care. The cats however, are still loitering around, poor little darlings, neighbours have fed them aswell.
That is shocking, phleb - how people can just leave an animal without food or water is awful, if they had left it outside the front door someone might have taken it. Good for you for looking after those cats though. Have you tried contacting your local paper so they can run a story? Our local rag does, and often people come forward to offer the animals a home.
