Cat Keeps Jumping On Kitchen Tops
59 Answers
For some reason the bloody cat has taken a liking to the kitchen work tops. He never ever used to jump on the sides but now he's on them all the time. I was making a sarnie yesterday and he jumped up right next to me as if it's just ok.
It's gross.
I already use a citric cleaner but that obviously doesn't put him off and I never keep any food out.
Any suggestions to stop the little bugger?

yes do -its communicating on their level using their body language -you are telling the cat this is your patch and they better keep off - and back it up with a swift swipe off the work surface - of course hissing at a cat just for the sake of it will induce one of those looks only a cat can give.

Society -I am being serious here -anyone who has animals will know how to communicate with them 'on their level'. Some trainers like Monty Roberts (horse) and cesar milan (dogs) advocate communicating with then using their body language. To hiss like a cat open your mouth and go ' Kaaaaaa! or 'Pstttttt!' I was trying to be helpful but obviously certain people delight in taking the proverbial - ho hum thats their problem not mine ;-)

Wow, lots of answers. Thanks!
Whenever I see him do it the usual response is a rather loud 'get the bleep of the bleeping side you little bleep'. That works to get him off, but doesn't deter him. The normal cleaner I use is a bleach one so maybe that is enticing him after all.
I've tried hissing at him before with other things. It just seved to make me look a prized prat while he stared at me as though he was laughing.
Maybe ill get some different cleaner and try some orange peels.
