Talk to DEFRA, they will advise you but they will also probably tell you that you cant do a lot.

Are we talking about your garden? If so, can you not prevent them from coming into your garden.

How about the water sprayers that are on a sensor, they turn on when an animal approaches and gives it a soaking.

Just be careful, if you do anything unlawful DEFRA will be all over you like a rash!!

my little lawn is a quagmire now. They have woodland nearby & fields but they wanna sett up near my back door in spite of my dogs. They will be torn to pieces if they dont b----- off !
Dont let your dogs near the badgers, you dogs will get really badly injured by badgers, they are a formidable foe!!

I think you just need to badger proof your garden, if they are already digging, DEFRA will prevent you from disturbing them, be aware, badgers appear to have far more rights than humans.
I had this problem and I phoned various wildlife organisations for help and advice and they were all useless just spouted on how protected they are. I wouldn't dream of harming them as they are lovely animals but like you they wrecked my fences and lawns. I eventually had the bottom of my fence concreted in to a depth of 4ft.. as once they were in my garden they proceeded to dig into neighbouring gardens. It has been 2 years since I've seen them. .my lawn has recovered but since finding out a new housing estate had been built across the way from me where I'm guessing their sett was. :(
Purple Poppy, I knew a farmer who spent thousands of pounds putting a badger proof fence around his field of wheat, it worked well until DEFRA found out, he was then made to put a badger gate in the fence to allow free passage of the badgers, it is illegal to prevent their free passage.

The wildlife organisations aren't useless, they are just telling you the truth, their is very little you can do to stop badgers without falling foul of the law.
ooops! *Purple_Popple
I wasn't advised to put a Badger Gate in by any of the wildlife centres I called. Nor did they mention I give DEFRA a call.
Not that it matters anymore as I've already said in my previous post the badgers have disappeared.
