We have two Golden Retrievers with us whenever we travel so obviously we have "fur remediation" needs :-) Normally we just throw the upright vacuum from the house into the storage bay when we head out. I would prefer something a little smaller. However, all the smaller vacuums I have tried just don't cut it for really doing a good job of getting the pet hair. Cordless or rechargeable...I have discovered they don't stand a chance.

I assumed when I did a search that I would come up with a bunch of threads talking about this but I came up with very little. Soooo...any recommendations? Looking for small and powerful. Thanks in advance!

tried everything....the best thing by far is the henry
Tudder, there are indeed shedloads of threads about this - look at the bottom of this page at Related Threads.

My vote's for the Meile Cat & Dog - far and away better than the Pet Dyson, IMO.
Funnily enough this was one of the first questions I posted when I joined AB back in2007. We ended up with the miele cat and dog and have never regretted it.
I can also recommend the Miele Dog and Cat vacuum - it seems the most powerful, and has 6 different settings.
