MY NEIGHBOUR'S DOG HAS RECENTLY DIED AFTER BEING ILL FOR A WEEK. THE VET SAYS HE DIED FROM PNEUMONIA. IS THE DISEASE RARE IN DOGS AND WHAT ARE ITS SYMPTOMS ?

How old was the dog and did it have anything else wrong with it? Just like people, pneumonia is usually only seen as the after effect of another illness when the person or dog is not in good health.
Same as in humans.......cough, temperature, listlessness and almost certainly nasal discharge. Short of breath, rapid breathing and loss of appetite.

Thank you Woofgang and Sqad. The dog was 8 years old and seemed as fit as a flea....such a shame.. I enjoyed taking him for walks occasionally when its owner had to work away for the day..
