Puppy Pack

Hello, I am getting a puppy for the first time and I have heard that you can get puppy packs which includes vaccinations, de-worming etc. Does anyone know I can get these from at a reasonable price? I live in Oxford.

£50 at our vets, which includes microchipping. I didnt need worming tablets or microchipping, so they gave me something else instead. Ring round your local vets as they all vary.

I get the feeling that the 'pack' you're speak of a one that is sometimes given out with Kennel Club accredited breeders so you would need to ask your breeder if they are providing one. Some breeders will give the first vaccination but all should give you a comprehensive care sheet and diet plan.
A good tip is to once you have seen/chosen your puppy, get it insured straight away if you plan on having it insured as there is a two week exclusion on all new policies. What this means is if you take your puppy to the vet and it has something wrong with it unless the policy is two weeks and one day old you will not be covered.

The breeder phones up and activates the four weeks free puppy insurance before you take the puppy home so it is covered as soon as you collect it . What I think is being referred to here is the schemes some vets have for a whole package of treatment paid for in one go, but I would not vaccinate and worm a puppy at the same time anyway. The breeder should have wormed the puppy and give you a schedule of when it was wormed and with what product. If the breeder has given the first vaccination make sure your vet uses the same brand or they may want you to start the whole course again and puppies should not be given an extra dose.
