I don't think so. If you look at the classifications on Wikipedia for Meerkat and for Rodent it seems that it is a carnivore . According to the wikipedia article a rodent have no canines and I assume a meerkat has since it's a carnivore. So my answer would be no it's not a rodent.

The Meerkat is a mongoose of the African grasslands. (South Africa to be exact)... According to this website, merrkat's eat small rodents, among other things...

They are cute, that's for sure!!

Have any of you read Life of Pi? Whenever I hear about meercats, I think of the scene on the island... ;-)
