smelly sharpei!
6 Answers
Does anyone have any tips how to stop my sharpei from smelling so bad? He has a bath about once every two weeks but he still smells, I am told this is common in this particular breed. He has sensitive skin so I do not want to use anything too harsh. Any suggestions gratefully received

Also make sure that there are no areas of skin-fold dermatitis on your dog - this breed is extremely prone to infection because of the excessive wrinkling and folding of the integument. Sometimes a change in diet can help too - something bland like Chappie, James Wellbeloved, Burns or Wafcol may help.
Maybe try something like this deodroant spray from your local Pet Supply store...
Can we see a picture of your cuttie?
As I understand it, shar-peis are also at risk of having crowded or wry mouths which can result in dental problems and bad breath. also if they secrete fron the anal glands it is likely to soil the coat in the tail area. Eels has a point about food. The couple of times that I have had to put a dog into kennels, they have come out smelling "tripey" and have tracked it down to the food they were given (which they loved) I guess its like humans and garlic
Thanks for all the advice. It is actually my friend's dog, she used my sign-in because her computer is playing up at the moment, so unfortunately I don't have a pic to show you. He is already fed on james wellbeloved but she adds some fish because she has been told it's good for his coat - could this be the reason he smells? I never knew that a dog's food could make its skin smell!
