I am aware i should take my cat to the vets for this, but in the meantime does anyone have any idea why she has lost her ability to meow?  Can cats 'lose' their voices like humans??

I'm not sure about cats, but our springer spaniel suffered laryngitis and did not eat or bark for over a week.After a course of antibiotics he was fine and resumed barking at everything that moved!
