We think our dog, an English Bull Terrier, is eating snails from the back garden.

Will this cause her any harm?

I've watched my golden retreiver do the same ... it's gross .. apart from the dog pulling weird faces while trying to get the slime off his tongue he seems cool with it all .. no harm done.

No harm done to him maybe, but I nearly saw my dinner again! Thanks
Just give him some garlic butter with his snails - he obviously likes French Cuisine.  Has he got his eye on a lady French Poodle?
So long as he doesn't eat dead ones that have eaten slug pellets.
This could cause heartworm.Don't want to put the wind up you but I would try and deter your dog from eating snails.

Thanks sister Shaneystar for your informative answer to Albert.  I shall keep an eye on my dogs, although they don't seem to want to eat snails.
Funny you should mention that.  Both of our bully girls have been digging up the lawn and eating snails.  Yeck!!  And the lawn looks terrible.  Since our older girl was feeling off this morning I was wonder if too many snails would give her a belly ache.
Please be careful as it is now widely known that snails carry LUNGWORM which can be fatal. My English Bull Terrier just came in eating one and after researching on the internet I plan on calling the vets, better to be safe than sorry!
NOT WISHING TO ALARM ANYONE BUT IT IS NOW WIDESPREAD KNOWLEDGE THAT SNAILS AND SLUGS CARRY LUNGWORM. MY ENGLISH BULL TERRIER WILL EAT ANYTHING AND CAME IN THIS EVENING HAVING DEVOURED HALF A SNAIL, I PLAN ON TAKING HER TO THE VET TO BE VACCINATED, BETTER TO BE SAFE THAN SORRY!
