What, in your opinion, do you consider the best breed of dog to own as a pet?

For me, it's a Labrador, hands down. Beautiful, faithful, strong. I love 'em!

i have a staffy. Not good with other dogs but they are great with humans (im quite annoyed that they are classed as chav dog these days. Ive had George for 7 years now, before the chav word came into play)

ive only experienced 2 of them in my family. Before staffys we had alsatians and mongrals.

As per my above post! im not saying in anyway they are the best breed of dog but i personally LOVE him to bits. I can cuddle him like a baby, he protects me and hes great looking.

Oops.

I seem to have lost the ability to use anything technomological, like.

hmm yes champers, if you dont mind me calling you that.

something went a wrong there!

Can i ask you a question, sorry if im straying from the point....(i new and all to this site) are you male or female?

I so hope the question doesnt offend you.

my dog parker is very possibly a collie/GSD corgi/some sort of terrier mix.I should be thankful to have four in one dog but I'd rather he was a brindled english bull terrier,

but dont tell him that...

ooooh lozzzzz, you so want the dog i want too!

My boss has a white one and she is just the best.

I'll try again shall I?

My favourite dog is a Chow Chow (see above link). They're renowned for being loyal, great with kids, intelligent, easy to train and make great guard dogs. Actually, that would also describe my perfect man!  :o}

*PHEW*

What sex do you think I am kkeggie?

kkeggie- find his/her (careful not to give anything away there!) other posts and you'll soon find out!

i know georgi. thats why im confused. espeically when you (champers) said you were dressed in a skirt etc but was a man.

and you fancy men, do wear knickers but dont wear a bra......prehaps i shall start a new question, if your not offended champers

Feel free kkeggie. I can always choose not to answer it.  ;o)

I'm off now. Going to Rupert's Bar in Soho. YEAY!
I have a weimaraner (our 3rd) Love the breed to bits but spend a lot of time dissuading people from having one as they are quite a handful. I also love chow chows. When we first looked at having a dog that was one of the options, but in the New Forest, ticks are part of the package so we decided that a smoothhaired fine coated breed  would be better from the point of view of seeing the ticks and removing them.
kkeggie I am suprised that you like them most people I know think they are ugly, but I love their flat features...
I have a labrador so I'm going to agree with you, georgit79! They're tremendously loyal, gentle, loving dogs.

My lab's called Alfie, and here he is in typically energetic pose (not!):

I do have pictures of him awake, but I haven't put them on the computer yet. :-)
I've got a mongrel. He has a bit of lab in him but mostly alsatian

I've got a GSD and he is BEAUTIFUL: the most faithful, loyal, loving - not to mention handsome - dog I've ever had. I love him with every piece of my heart.

shaneystar, your pooch is LOVELY!

I have a Bearded Collie,  he is very obedient, and is one old dog that will still learn new tricks very easily. He walks by my side without a lead, and ignores other dogs.He is very friendly, but slightly nervous. He does need a lot of grooming. A fantastic dog.
Thank you dmsjps and a woof from Shane!!
He is a darling and I am besotted with him. He's getting an old boy now though,11 years old.He was a rescue dog and we have had him since he was about 1year old.He is a loving faithful friend.
Collies are great at learning tricks. My brother has a border collie and she learns new games and things ever so quickly.
They are lovely dogs.
I have always loved Labs. Golden Retrievers are great, too. We have two Labs and a LabWeiler (or is she a RottRador, or perhaps a Rottweiler Retriever?).

littleoldmes Alfie looks sooooo much like our Yellow. Typical Lab pose. I love it! They go from that position to chasing frisbees in less than a second, then back to lounging when you want. Great dogs, they are.

I would post a photo or three but I lost most of them during a hard drive crash. Darn! Must start over quickly - and must back up my stuff.
