my kittens tail

we recently brought home a kitten we also have two gogs a chihuahua and a lab x

my labx has had hold of the 8 week old kitten and she now has difficulty walking her tail just dangles (i think its broken) and when she walkes she wobbles and crys.

has anyone had this happen to them and if so what will happen when i take her to the vets?

I've taken my cat to the vet with no money before, ended up skint the next week but would rather give up my beloved cat than let them suffer

i just went in the room were i keep her to find her on the other side of the room. she is still walking and with no cry of pain she is playing also. does this sound like a cat in severe pain you will also find that some mother cats chew off the tails of their young and these cats are usualy ferral they will have no acess to vets and they go on living ok with out it.

also some breeders have kittens born with broken tails they take them to the vets when they are old enouth to go under anistetic.

i am a pet lover and im also a chihuahua breeder.

i also used to breed rats there tails used to fall off altogether and this didnt cause them trouble. i one took one of them to the vet after its skin had fell of its tail the vet told me to leave it to fall off and soak it in salt water wat a waste of money that was i was already doing that.

Hi rolo_chihuah, I have read your question, and I'm not surprised in the least at the replies you have received! When I read your post I felt up-set for this unfortunate kitten, then anger for your ignorance! You say that you are on the sick and cant afford vet bills, you shouldn't even thought of getting another animal if you'r on a low income, its another mouth to feed also what about when the time came for this kitten had to be spayed/neurtered + its injections they dont come cheap either or weren't you going to bother about these important procedures for the welfare of this kitten.

I know I have been very blunt in my response, but myself being passionate animal lover and have owned several cats over the years and have always cared deeply for their welfare from being kittens to the end of their lives, that is what owning an animal is all about caring for its every need and keeping it warm, safe, loved and "HEALTHY" through all its life!

If you haven't had this kitten to the vets because of finances, I suggest you sign all ownership over to the RSPCA, and maybe you will learn a hard lesson in ever owning a kitten again.

will people stop telling me to give her up would you give up youre children if you were on 200pound a month no. when will you get it through your thick skulls.  she is going to the vets tomorrow.  and yes i have also had cats before since being a child and she will be going for ingections she is not getting spayed as i dont belive in it and you might also like to no i will soon be on a 800pound a month income as i am returning to work after my misscarrage she was a gift to me so i had something small to look after to take my mind off things and yes i am worried about her.  all my pets are like children to me and after 2 misscarages and 1 still birth i am verry protective over them. so please stop give me a hard time as i doing my best i only asked if anyone had gone through the same thing so i knew if i would loose her or not.

But you can afford a computer and internet access and probably whatever else your priorities decide.  Get real, sort your own life before you take responsibilty for another dumb creature's.  Shame on you.

I'm sorry but are you a licensed breeder or do you work out of your backyard?  Your attitude towards the animal which is under your care and towards the people who have given helpful suggestions suggests you're not a person who has the welfare of any animals at heart, and I certainly doubt your personal ability to properly carry out any sort of breeding. 

As a 'breeder' I can only imagine how you would feel if one of your puppies went to a home where it suffered from serious injury and went untreated.  However, the fact that you speak about your rats' tails falling off as if this was a routine occurrence makes me dubious of your qualification to breed anything.

I have every sympathy for your unfortunate personal circumstances but to use these as an excuse for neglect is abhorrent.  Your disregard for the wellbeing of your animals is a disgrace.  If you have an ounce of sense you will take up some of the suggestions or offers of help that you have received and at least do the right thing. 

Finally, I am interested to know why you are totally unconcerned about any pain or suffering, seem to think she's too young for an anaesthetic (nonsense), don't think anything will need done except her tail being 'docked' and yet your initial question was because you wanted to know if you might lose her!  Surely if you are so unconcerned that she can wait and you have such broad experience of the benign nature of tail injuries, you wouldn't need to ask if you might lose her?!

noffing you say is going to upset me ive told you im worried and no im not a back yard breeder do you even know how much chihuahuas cost and the trouble it takes to get one. if already told you im off sick if you must know im in arreas with rent counsile tax and my internet provider but everything is going to get sorted out. havent any of you ever gone through a hard time i dont want to talk to any of you any more and i am blocking this site off my pc.

I'm really sorry about your personal problems rolo- of which you seem to have many! however they are not the problem of the animals in your care.

I've said it once and i'll say it again- your off handed manner in which you treat these animals is terrible. Your friend should be shamed of themselves for giving you yet another animal which you can clearly not afford nor appear to be in the right frame of mind to care for them.

i spoil my pets i dont no how you can say that ive been off sick for one month and this is all i get. before going on the sick (after my misscarrage) i spent 700pounds for my male chihuahua i also payed out 100pounds a week on clothes for him now how can you say i dont look after my pets. i have said this i dont no how many times now the moggy is going to the vets tommorow i was going to take her today my father in law was going to take us and pay but he had to rush in to work so it dint happen.

Mentioning your miscarriage isnt gaining you any more sympathy, i know it sounds harsh but as you can see you have angered alot of GENUINE animal lovers with your callous treatment of your kitten.

May I suggest you keep aside some of your pets clothes money for essential vet care? im sure they'd appreciate being healthy over looking trendy!

I have had a miscarrige and a still birth and I never was fortunate to ever become a mother because complications, yes my cats are my babies I never had & they are spoilt rotten, I also have had lean times in my life, most likely like alot of people on AB, and one time I was a bit brassic and my cat had to go to the vets I explained my circumstances he allowed me to pay the vet bill off in stages.  As I said they are my babies and "no matter what" they will always be properly looked after and cared for," EVEN MY STUFFED ANIMALS"

lol dint mean it to evey one about the stufft toys, my vet would let me pay in stages but 20pound and 20% of the bill was needed to be payed upfront, my cat is unfortunat as my 2 dogs have pet insurance we havent even had her a week so havent realy had the chance to sort it out and its too late now. im going to cheack my money has cleard today so hopefully my baby will be able to go to the vets today. all the best.
