we have just returned home from our holiday and found 3 cobble type stones on our lawn. We had a relative coming in each day to water etc and she said she saw the stones, there was 1 the first day, 2 on the second and so on. We know that no- one is playing a trick on us, and assume an animal must have moved them, but why and how. We do have foxes that come into our garden, would/could they do this.

or in the future either

No animal in its right mind would harvest cobble stones and deposit them on your lawn.  When you describe them as cobbelstones are they about 4" (10cm) cubes?

Somebody is taking the p*ss!

kids playing maybe?
Question Author
they were on the back lawn which is securely fenced in all the way around and there are no kids living in either of the two adjoining houses or the houses at the end of the garden. This is why it is such a mystery.
