The others I know around here are called, Annie, Bonnie, Max, Nigel, and Meg. Is Atticus too posh a name for a dog?

It's a terrier, not a run o the mill type, but one of those fancy ones. I just can't remember the name of the breed.

Used to have a neighbour with a cat called cooking fat. Think I heard him call him that several times!
I think 'Fanny' is a good name for a dog.
I can just picture the owner going round asking 'have you seen my Fanny' when it goes missing. ( Better than calling it Mike Hunt anyway.)

When my dog stands looking at me, telling me it wants walked yet again, I'm sometimes tempted to call it that too.

Fanny the wonder dog. Julian Clary rode to fame on its back.
What is wrong with Mike Hunt?

you'd need to see a gynicologist for an answer to that
Ducking fog?
So what is your dog called sandy?

When it was in the dog pound they named it Missy. It's probably not very original but she knows it.
My pal has just adopted a retired gun dog called Missy. MIssy was destined to be despatched to doggy heaven once her working days were over, but she was lucky.

My last dog kept his dog pound name - it was the name that I would have chosen for him (Robbie) and it suited him. He was not a people dog and he was not too keen on cats or other dogs either. I loved him and he put up with me.

It's good to hear of dogs being rescued from the pound. They can't keep them long.
Merlin has just been renamed "You vicious little bitch". I already have one infected finger (not her fault) and she goes and sticks her teeth in my hand. It really is a good thing that I love her.
Many decades ago we called a puppy 'Brandy' :)

His litter brother was graced with 'Sebastian' :/

Was that about the time Brideshead Revisited first hit the TV screens?
I like unusual animal names. Atticus isn't too bad.
Mine have tended to be named with a theme, often tv based. I had a Deidre when Deidre Barlow was in jail. Also had Ainsley and Malachi when they were on Pop Idol. Currently have a Haribo, Fizz and Marlene, plus Totty. Had two puppies with different coats, and their nick names were Matt Finish and Shag Pile.
Atticus, a good name for a finch?
Atticus seems very reasonable and non-posh to me - after all the Crufts winner was called Afterglow Maverick Sabre.
