I think 'Fanny' is a good name for a dog.
I can just picture the owner going round asking 'have you seen my Fanny' when it goes missing. ( Better than calling it Mike Hunt anyway.)
My pal has just adopted a retired gun dog called Missy. MIssy was destined to be despatched to doggy heaven once her working days were over, but she was lucky.
My last dog kept his dog pound name - it was the name that I would have chosen for him (Robbie) and it suited him. He was not a people dog and he was not too keen on cats or other dogs either. I loved him and he put up with me.
Merlin has just been renamed "You vicious little bitch". I already have one infected finger (not her fault) and she goes and sticks her teeth in my hand. It really is a good thing that I love her.
Mine have tended to be named with a theme, often tv based. I had a Deidre when Deidre Barlow was in jail. Also had Ainsley and Malachi when they were on Pop Idol. Currently have a Haribo, Fizz and Marlene, plus Totty. Had two puppies with different coats, and their nick names were Matt Finish and Shag Pile.
