Koi Carp

hello all
i have a very large koi it is about 30 years old it floats at the top of the pond with its fins erect out of the wateri think it pretends it is a shark can anybody explain its behavour

Mine do it as well,though not as old,especially when it's sunny I think they just like to laze about in the sun.

I forgot to add that I think it's a species thing.I used to walk Max round the local fishing ponds and when it is nice and sunny the carp are always basking on the surface.
