Yet again I am searching for a Christmas present for the kitties. I found this item which amused me but the comments at the bottom of the page were funny. Amazon.com User Recommendation

corylus - they are brilliant companions but, as you say, opinionated and quite prone to bullying their humans until they get what they want.
My two are siblings. Frankie is usually a sweet boy but is on regular steroids for his asthma and gets the munchies. Merlin is longhaired, beautiful, terminally stupid and pretty fierce when things don't go her way.
I love them both - except at silly o'clock in the morning when Frankie wants 'food'. He is a furry alarm.

In the US they often remove the claws. My two don't get regular manicures - only when necessary. Frankie (my avatar) has a mainly white face and Merlin often sticks her claws in it. He looks pathetic with his war wounds.
Frankie sticks his claws into the side of my mattress and often needs to be rescued, his claws get stuck.
They are snoozing away, trying to look innocent and adorable.

paddy - those cats look as if they are enjoying playing with it. I did see something about it a couple of days ago so it might be worthy of further investigation.
My two dogs were crossbreeds, both half GSD. The dogs, even when in protective mode, were never as scary as a cat on the rampage. The noise sends shivers down your spine. They just look so cute and innocent - just look !!!!

Vet usually moans that Campbell cat is purring too loudly to listen to her heart and lungs properly when she goes for her annual vaccinations. Robbie, on the other hand, goes into total wimp mode at the vets and wedges his head as far into me as possible to avoid anything 'scary'.
Little point, therefore, in getting either of them a muzzle.

Claws can need to be clipped. For an active cat walking/running over the concrete pavements wear them short, but I recall we had a pet who seemed to be having issues with her claws when she was older. I was looking after her whilst the family were on holiday. So I took her to the vet who trimmed them and said I could do it myself. Weird, they sort of shattered and left a smaller claw underneath IIRC. I hated the thought of getting it wrong and cutting too much, but luckily I was only on holiday duty ;-)
Frankie makes noises and lunges towards me when I clip his claws. Sometimes I am really cruel and stick a pillow over the dangerous bit.
Merlin (his sister) has long hair, her feet are massive and they are very hairy. She is also quite bad tempered. By the time that I have found the first claw she is hissing and spitting. I took her to the vet but the vet couldn't get near her.
I don't mind them demolishing the walls, carpets and furniture - I worry about them killing each other.
OG - it would have been the sheath that shattered. If you accidentally clip too close to the quick they can bleed badly. My two are indoor cats but they manage to keep their claws in good condition using the woodwork and, sometimes, one of the scratch posts.
Paddy - I think that I will buy them the cat's meow thingy for their Christmas present. There is every chance that it will be ignored.
Campbellking. Frankie, being a wimp, purrs due to stress at the vet. I think that he makes it louder when he sees the stethoscope to check his lungs.

Anne - they are my two favourite people. After that would be my brother and his family.
You know where you are with a cat - much as I love dogs they are desperate to please. A cat couldn't give two hoots about anyone but itself. That is not to say that they are not loving - but they are deviously loving.
