bad news...i had to net my pond in Norfolk..bloomin' nuisance they are
I was walking in the woods c the dog

and a heron/crane managed to fly and negotiate vertical lift amongst all the branches. I watched transfixed

They're lovely creatures but maybe not so attractive if you've a pond of goldfish.
and don't let them start nesting on your roof ! arrgghh ....
Are they big enough to snack on PP's dog?



There is a huge heronry not far from me but I've never seen a heron nesting on a roof.

It would depend on the size of PPs dog, I suppose. The bird was dove grey and looked about the size of a Wood Pigeon only with much longer lags and a pointed beak. .
Sandy "a heron just flew low over the garden" sounds like the kind of thing a spy would say in an encrypted message about an ominous event!

I think Cranes nest on chimneys in northern Spain.
Storks will nest of rooves. (Roofs?)
