I found a moth in my garden yesterday, that had very light brown outer wings, which had a lovely orange pattern on them whan they were fully open,Any idea what type of moth it was? It was definetely a moth and not a butterfly.
The wrong one has appeared. If this link is also jinxed the moth I'm trying to show you is called an Orange Underwing and is found on the UK Moth site.
No cetti,it was a very pale mousey brown kind of colour, and it was a block colour, there was no variation, other than the orange underneath. That moth shown here has fantastic camoflauge(not spelt correctly)though!
I have seen the same moths, very lively and wanting to come to the light after dark. They have that distinct dull orange on their wings.About an inch and a quarter long.
