strange bug

my two daughters went to the party in the park last sunday (bingly), they came back with a story of some strange and new bug with the size of a birds head and long body and had like moth wings it also looked like it had a sting on it's tail, this creature apparantly chased them and stung my eldest daughter, does anyone recall seeing anything remotley like this?
