sleepwalking dog

over the past few weeks my dog has taken to waking up in the night and wandering around the room, she seems to be asleep and after a few moments goes back to her bed. Are there any known cases of sleepwalking animals or is she just being silly?

Yes my dog has done it once. She needs a pee once during the night (well she's getting on a bit) She gets up, shakes herself, trots downstairs ansd we meet at the french window where I let her out. If she is just changing position in the night, she doesn't shake, so I wait to hear her shake before I get out of bed.

A couple of weeks ago, she got up for a second time, shakes, oh well thinks I and totter down the stairs after her. Meet her at the bottom of the stairs just stood there so I said her name, she gives a huge jump, turns round and trots back up to bed!!

Mind you weimaraners are quite active in their sleep generally. All of ours have had "running dreams" and barked and howled in their sleep, now that is fun, you have to wake the dog to stop the howling!!

yes my pooch has 'chasing rabbit' dreams - they are very amusing to watch but she sometimes twitches herself off the sofa and then looks very surprised :)

I think it means that they are extra intelligent!!

parker has his "bunny dreams" his legs go and he does this really cute grumbling woofy thing...we turn the telly down and watch and listen to him for ages...
