Overactive Thyroid In Cat Part 2
25 Answers
Further to this http:// www.the answerb ank.co. uk/Anim als-and -Nature /Questi on14309 24.html The cat`s blood tests confirmed an overactive thyroid and I decided to opt for the operation. She had it this morning. The thyroid growth was on both sides which means there is more chance of hypercalcaemia due to having to disect out the parathyroid gland but the vet is very pleased with her progress so far. He said he couldn`t believe how well she recovered from the op and is eating. She was under for one hour and he also took out an apocrine cyst that had been growing on her cheek (that was partly why I decided on the op - so that he could do both at the same time). I`m hoping she can come home in a couple of days and keeping my fingers crossed that she doesn`t get the calcium problem.

If you are not making yourself anxious worrying about them you are probably fighting off the desire to throttle them.
My two are indoor cats so I don't have the worry of them being on the roads. But I get nagged and bullied into doing what they want me to do - I am a coward.
I hope she feels better soon and that this is just a hiccup on the road to her recovery.

Puss went to the vet for her follow up today. He is very pleased with her and she is putting on weight. He said the lack of appetite is the thyroid settling down. She is scoffing salmon at the moment which I have been giving her for the calcium that is in the bones. Her appetite will be different now anyway because she was hyperthyroid. I`m starting to breathe a sigh of relief now
