A Sad Day.

I thought we were winning with our little Minette, she was comfortable, strolling in the sunshine and had begun to eat much better (poached chicken and a bowl of double cream a day), but this morning there was a change. She could scarcely stand up and, in fact, fell over. We took her to the vet's and she had had some sort of brain event so I cuddled her as she went to sleep.
Been in tears most of the day, but it was the right thing do. 'Bye all for now.

She was a 16 year old miniature doberman cross who had contracted some unpronounceable illness related to older dogs not having been spayed - organ failure, riddled with arthritis. Vet said it was the right and humane thing to do but still a hard decision to have to make. Still not quite used to not having her around the house, so i do know how you feel right now and totally sympathise with you.
Minnie was 16, nearly 17, Ken. I found her as a half-grown kitten on a bale of straw in the barn when I moved to France. I know she loved me; when she had her kittens (before I realised she didn't belong to anyone else) she climbed onto the settee next to me and laid her head on me as she cried and produced them. I stroked her throughout and popped each kitty on a towel-covered hottie in a box as they emerged. We had a very close relationship all her life. I'm going to concentrate on that. :-) (When I've stopped crying.)
