please excuse my ignorance but i will ask anyway.
there seem to be loads and loads of cows in fields and no bulls, does one bull mate with them all, and if so, arnt all cows inbreds?
sorry to be so dumb, just wondered if anyone has time for an answer? please

This means that farmers can introduce fresh breeding to his herd regularly and at minimal cost or biosecurity risk. It is not usual practice to knowingly interbreed cattle, and on the whole a farmer will have records of each calf's parentage. But having several bulls to do a job which one could easily manage is not always safe or economical.
