Unsure pregnancy

We took in an abandoned adult cat that had kittens. We took the Mom cat to the Vet to get checked. When the vet was examing her, he found stiches in her stomach noting that she had been spayed. That was about a month ago. Now She is gaining a tremendous amount of wieght, her nipples are starting to swell, she keeps snooping into closets and under the beds and she also vomitted a few times about three weeks ago. Can she have gotten pregnant before getting spayed? If she did, could she have stayed pregnant? Thanks

The most likely thing is that an operation was performed for another reason. A cat who has been spayed has had both her uterus and ovaries removed and is incapaple of becoming pregnant. If she was pregnant before being spayed the foetuses would be removed with the uterus.

Sounds like she is pregnant, although if could possibly a phantom pregnancy. You sound like you need a professional second opinion.
